Architectural history is loaded with stories and a rich lexicon of labels and name badges that attempt to make sense of the twists and turns of centuries worth of building design. ‘Isms’ are there to help group aligned interests and activities, but in the case of ‘Palladianism’ how useful is it? Could you spot the difference between it and plain classicism? Has history overplayed ‘Palladianism’ and mixed fact with fiction? Does Palladianism really exist?

RIBA hosts an evening debunking the myths and architectural assumptions of Palladianism setting it in its wider historical and material cultural context with historian/author Daniel Maudlin: writer, historian and Architecture Programme Curator at the Royal Academy of Arts, Owen Hopkins, Richard Hewlings of Historic England and broadcaster/author Jonathan Glancey.

Part of a season of events inspired by Palladian Design – the Good, the Bad and the Unexpected.
