Galvin Restaurants Celebrates Beaujolais Nouveau Day 19 November

For the first time Café à Vin will be celebrating one of the most French of events, Beaujolais Nouveau day on Thursday 19 November. Beaujolais Nouveau day is an institution in France with parties, fireworks, music and festivities to celebrate the release of the new vintage, and the wine is embargoed by French law until 12.01pm on the 19th. London is not bound by this so Café à Vin is able to offer the new wine with a specially created breakfast menu from 9am until 10.30am, giving British oenophiles a chance to taste it before their French contemporaries.

The breakfast will take place at Café à Vin and include a dish chosen from the specially created menu, coffee, tea and a 100ml glass of 2015 Domaine André Colonge Beaujolais Nouveau. The menu options have been created to bring out the best in both the dishes and the young and vivacious wine and include baked Portobello mushroom with a Vacherin Mont d’Or and herb crust, red wine-poached egg with Alsace ham & buckwheat muffin with hollandaise sauce and Toulouse sausages with cocoa beans and hash browns.

Of the event, owner Jeff Galvin says “This is a really special occasion for us, to be able to bring a little of the celebratory spirit of Beaujolais Nouveau day to London and provide British wine lovers with a real first. We hope to make this breakfast a yearly event and go a little way towards making Beaujolais Nouveau day as hotly anticipated an event in England as it is in France”
