Barbara Windsor, Loyd Grossman and Penny Vincenzi will be making appearances as celebrity guest speakers at Mencap’s annual Carols by Candlelight on Tuesday 8 December, at the Priory Church of St Bartholomew the Great.

The service will include a festive array of traditional Christmas hymns, carols and readings by celebrities and special guests. The stunning venue was built in the 12th century and is the oldest church in London, making a spectacular backdrop for the celebratory evening.

Barbara Windsor, Mencap supporter and actress, who will be reading on the night said:

‘I am delighted to be speaking at Mencap’s Carols by Candlelight service this year. It is going to be a wonderful, traditional evening in one of London’s iconic venues, giving people the opportunity to celebrate the festive season all whilst supporting Mencap and their work for people with a learning disability.’

Lloyd Page, Mencap spokesperson who has a learning disability, who will be reading on the night said:

‘Christmas is one of my favourite times of year and I am excited to be speaking again at Mencap’s Carols by Candlelight service. I enjoy the event and I feel that by doing a reading I show that just because I have learning disability, it does not stop me doing the things that everyone can do. It’s always a truly magical evening and gets everybody in the Christmas spirit, I can’t wait!’

Mencap’s Carols by Candlelight is being kindly supported by Fixnetix, a specialist providing high speed data and infrastructure to banks and trading firms.

All money raised from the event and donations made on the night will go to Mencap’s work supporting people with a learning disability.
