On March 17th 1962, the formation of The Ealing Blues Club by Alexis Korner & Cyril Davies at the premises of 42a The Broadway, Ealing, W5 (now the Red Rooms nightclub) was to be the catalyst that sparked the British Blues boom which in turn gave birth to what we now call ‘Rock Music’.

Most famously, The Ealing Blues Club was to be where in April 1962, Mick Jagger & Keith Richards met Brian Jones. It was where Keith Richards first played in public and where The Rolling Stones had their first residency at which they were a 6 piece band with Ian Stewart on piano. Ian was effectively the ‘6th Stone’, he subsequently took up the role of Tour Manager and ceased to be visible as part of the ‘live’ performance, although it is generally acknowledged that his musical contribution in those early days was crucial to the band’s development.

In 2011, top Boogie pianist BEN WATERS released the album ‘BOOGIE 4 STU – A TRIBUTE TO IAN STEWART’, which was to give IAN STEWART the public appreciation which perhaps was not always evident in his lifetime. Musicians appearing on the album include: CHARLIE WATTS, MICK JAGGER, KEITH RICHARDS, RONNIE WOOD, BILL WYMAN (and JOOLS HOLLAND).

Completing the bill is ROBERT HOKUM with his band THE GREAT WEST GROOVE. Robert is founder and host musician of THE EALING BLUES FESTIVAL (one of the UK's biggest Blues Fests) with has kept Ealing’s Blues Heritage alive since 1987.
