Shed some pounds while raising pounds at Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge

It’s a new year, fresh start and the perfect time to set new goals, so why not get fit and in the process raise some much needed funds for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home.

Battersea’s Muddy Dog Challenge returns for a second year this May and is the UK’s only mud run where animal owners can take part in an obstacle course and run alongside their four-legged friend. Competitors can scamper, jog or walk round a 2.5km or 5km and will get the opportunity to crawl under nets, jump over tyres and squelch in the mud.

Runners at Brockwell Park, on Saturday 7 May will enjoy the wonderful leafy scenery the London Park has to offer.

Competitors have the option of running with their dog, in a team or on their own. Whether running with man, woman or pooch, the Muddy Dog Challenge will be a day to remember. Friends and family are invited to cheer runners as they cross the finish line. There’ll be lots fund activities for the whole family as well as stalls to buy refreshments and some well-deserved doggy treats.

It costs almost £12.7 million every year to care for Battersea’s animals, and money raised by Muddy Dogs Challenge runners will go towards helping nearly 8,000 dogs and cats a year that arrive at Battersea’s three centres in South London, Old Windsor in Berkshire and Brands Hatch in Kent. As Battersea Dogs & Cats Home receives no central government funding, the centres rely on the generosity and support of the public to help care for lost and abandoned dogs & cats.
