Refreshingly edgy US Comedian Jena Friedman probes the US body politic in her critically acclaimed solo show American C*nt. First seen at last year’s Edinburgh Festival, American C*nt sold out the 12 night run

America has long had the eyes of the world ogling her—but now that she’s nearing the end of her global supremacy, it’s time for her to speak out, and what better way to do that than through the mouth of likeable cunt, New York comedian Jena Friedman.

American C*nt is an in-depth examination into Lady Liberty’s many hysterical indiscretions. From women’s issues—like feminism, ageism and reproductive rights— to politics people actually care about, Friedman covers the map on America’s most intimate areas and offers her own darkly enlightened view of them.

Last year she finished a stint as a producer at The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and has also written for Late Show with David Letterman, she is also a filmmaker. Her live work has taken her across the world and she has performed at many festivals including including SXSW, The New Yorker Festival, The New York Fringe Festival, The Glasgow International Comedy Festival as well as the Edinburgh Festival. Her work has been featured in Time Out, Newsweek, Time, I-D Magazine, The Huffington Post, Gawker, New York Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, The New Yorker, Comedy Central, CBS, VICE and more.

In 2012, she received a cease and desist letter from the New York Times for parodying their Vows wedding videos. She also received a cease and desist letter from Lonely Planet for her popular but now defunct satirical dating website NotLonelyPlanet.com. In 2007, she wrote The Refugee Girls Revue, a satire inspired by American Girl dolls. The play earned critical acclaim in the 2008 New York International Fringe Festival and had a successful run Off-Broadway. When she’s not performing stand up or working to break the machine, Jena’s hobbies include surfing, traveling and tweeting about Ebola.
