Vocalist Ian Shaw 606 Club chelsea Live Music Venue Jazz Club Restaurant London UKIAN SHAW, a regular volunteer at the camps and one of the driving forces behind this evening’s event, is a record producer, broadcaster, raconteur, pianist oh and one of Europe’s finest male jazz vocalists. Named Best Vocalist of the Year twice(!) at the BBC Jazz Awards, multi-award-winning Ian Shaw is a huge talent with the most engaging personality and an ability to make every song his own. Described as “the voice of the decade” it is not by chance that he was the first British Jazz vocalist to be signed to American label, Milestone, which resulted in a number of highly acclaimed US recordings. “One of the scene's class acts”The Guardian; “…our finest Jazz singer” Time Out. ianshaw.biz

Singer Songwriter Sarah Gillespie 606 Club Chelsea Live Music Venue Jazz Club Restaurant London UKSARAH GILLESPIE, the other chief organiser behind this evening’s event, is a unique and creative musical force whose style has been described by Rock’n’Reel as “a bracingly eclectic mix of Beat poetry with jazz, folk and Middle Eastern elements”. Her terrific lyrics reflect her passion for politics and the music is witty, poignant, quirky and swinging. Hailed as one of the major singer-songwriters on the British scene she has toured extensively in the UK and Europe performing at festivals, theatres, arts centres and headlining at major venues, and has also appeared live on both BBC Radio 4’s ‘Woman’s Hour’ and ‘Start the Week’ as well as BBC London 94.9’s ‘Simon Lederman’ show. “…an incandescent new presence who matches her imposing delivery with superior lyrics” Guardian; “Haunting tunes and striking lyrics … yearningly pretty and bitter sweet.” The Independent. sarahgillespie.com

CLAIRE MARTIN is one of the finest jazz vocalists to have come from this country in the last thirty years. Variously described as “…the outstanding voice of her generation” and “a born musician” this award-winning, internationally acclaimed artist has no less than four British Jazz Awards, 17 albums (including numerous “Best Album” choices), and, with her husky, perfectly controlled voice, flawless time and impeccable taste she never fails to impress. “Claire Martin....a meticulous blend of brilliant material and flawless craftsmanship” New York Observer. clairemartinjazz.co.uk

Sarah Jane Morris 606 Club Chelsea Live Music Venue Jazz Club Restaurant London UKSARAH JANE MORRIS Sarah Jane’s enviable career spans from early 80s, politically active bands The Republic, Happy End and the Communards through to her current international success as a singer/songwriter of undeniable stature. To give just some idea of her breadth and creativity, concert highlights have included a Swing Ladies concert with Chaka Khan and Montserrat Caballé, a performance in front of 10,000 fans in Athens, a European Tour with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, numerous sell-out weeks at Ronnie Scott's and the “What Women Want” concert with Sinead O'Connor and Chrissie Hynde at the Royal Festival Hall. “A voice that can excite shivers of passion and delight … Soaring, swooping, sensual and sophisticated, this voice is more than a style, it’s a force of nature” Observer; “Sarah Jane Morris....mesmeric” Guardian. sarahjanemorris.co.uk
