A striking exhibition of unlikeness

This exhibition will push the concept of contrast, shininess, colours and perception to the extreme, using light as the main stimulate agent.

The human eyes see more than the colour spectrum, so Isabelle Beaubien proposes to go even further by extending that idea of spectrum to life itself.

“The spectrum of life is wide, and it all depends on perception, or the amount of material or emotional information that is transferred from object to viewer.”

The colours she uses and the texture she creates, will definitely provoke a strong reaction to the viewer. Each painting is finished by a thick layer of resin that allows the canvas to become more sculptural. The resin generates a specular type of light reflecting therefore bringing the depth of the paint beyond expectation.

Everybody will have a different emotional connection to Isabelle’s work on different level, but will eventually lead the observer to see them more as an object of desire than a painting on the wall.

Isabelle’s work explores the limit of the paint, by always trying to find the striking contrast between the colours, the finish, and more importantly the reaction with light. In her work, light is way more than a natural agent that stimulates sight and make things visible, light propelled her work to the next level, by allowing the colours to shine to an extreme and contrast to intensify.

Born in 1980, Isabelle Beaubien is a native of Montreal Canada where she studied Fine Arts at Concordia University. Upon graduation, she went on to gain her Master’s degree in Contemporary Art from The Villa Arson, Nice, France.

She is an emerging artist that lives and works in London and exhibits in many galleries through the UK and North America.
