A dazzling new original work by drummer-percussionist Siemy Di brings together music and theatre to tell a story that is an inspiring example of cross-cultural unity.
Prâna is an original blend of African, Indian and American jazz rhythm. It tells a fictitious story of a legendary jazz drummer Max Roach who embarks on a journey to discover the origin of drum and rhythm. It is a stunning theatrical-dance work that integrates music, storytelling and dance as musicians on stage are joined by contemporary and flamenco dancers.
‘Prâna is a fantastic production that respectfully celebrates Max Roach’s unique impact of the world of drums, as well as the merging of the diverse cultures that have helped shape what we know of music today’ (Drummer Magazine)
