Rhythm Junction London is a celebration of vintage music and dance presented by Down for the Count Festivals.

Reviving the glamour of the Swing Era, Rhythm Junction London puts live swing music centre-stage and offers dancers and music fans an unmissable vintage night out on the town.

Following the success of events in 2014 and 2015, the team have refined the concept and this year will deliver the very best of Rhythm Junction.

The Band:
Down for the Count are renowned on the vintage scene for their unique sound and energetic performance – as much fun to watch as to dance to. This “mini big band” play authentic 1930s and 40s big band and jive classics, and have performed at festivals and jazz clubs including Twinwood Festival, Ronnie Scott’s, Hideaway Streatham, Pizza Express Soho and The London Swing Festival. They swing just like a full-scale dance orchestra but are not afraid to try something new, keeping audiences on their toes!

The Dance Lesson:
Nikki Santilli is a natural born performer, choreographer and dance teacher who has featured on TV, film and the London stage. At Rhythm Junction London she will teach a solo jazz dance routine – no partner necessary – that will have you freestyling like Fred Astaire. Her down-to-earth teaching style will encourage anyone to have a go at this optional lesson, whether they’ve been dancing for five years or five minutes!

The DJ:
Pat Da Kat is one of the longest established DJs on the London dance scene, and will be spinning records from his extensive collection of swing, jive and boogie woogie classics. This legendary DJ is a dancer himself and runs the sell-out Hollywood Boogie dance nights in South London. There is something for everyone in each of Pat’s sets – and whilst you’re welcome to sit and enjoy the evening’s entertainment, we defy you to stay still when Pat is on the decks!

The Venue:
The Tabernacle is a glorious venue in London’s cultural Notting Hill carnival district. This incredible space is used for film, theatre, television, live gigs and now swing dancing. Dancers will love the large wooden dance floor, whilst the seats in the balcony provide a great view of all the action. The Tabernacle has a bar and café downstairs serving food and drinks all evening - the perfect place to meet friends before heading into the event.

Described as “the next big thing on the swing music and dance calendar”, Rhythm Junction London calls out for people to get dressed up, dance and have a ball!
