RISEgallery is delighted to announce their first show of the year ‘An Unnatural History’. The show is an exhibition of contemporary needle works by South London based artist Tina Crawford.

After an extensive career in free embroidery illustration, designing for high-end clients such as Shakespeare’s Globe, Kew Gardens and the Museum of London, Central St. Martins trained, Tina Crawford brings her sewn works to RISEgallery for her debut solo show.

Crawford is a master of her craft, using the sewing machine with such fluidity as if the apparatus is an extension of her own body. Crawford’s works show not only a virtuosity of technique, but a true passion for the anatomical and the mythical.

The exhibition, ‘An Unnatural History’, is a spectacle of skeletal forms, both real and fictitious, exploring myths against real syndromes from the 18th Century to present day. Crawford’s unique visual translations blur the distinction between reality and imagination, creating a body of work that is as insightful and informed as it is fantastical.

We hope you can join us for the private view of ‘An Unnatural History’ on 11th February, from 6 to 9pm.

The event is by guest list only. To reserve a place please click ‘attending’ on this group or alternatively send an email to [email protected]. The event is unticketed and admission is on a first-come, first-served basis.

The show continues from 12th February to 10th March 2016.
