Free Range 2016 announce season of fresh creative works. Over five weeks, thousands of students will exhibit their work across six disciplines: art, design, illustration, photography, architecture and interior design.

The creative hub of East London, the Old Truman Brewery arts and media quarter on Brick Lane, plays host once more to the UK’s largest graduate art, design and fashion show, Free Range on Friday 10th June.

The exhibition, now in its 16th year, showcases the breadth of work being produced by the UK’s top young creatives – both to the public and to the creative industries on the lookout to find the best in up-and-coming talent.

Free Range has become a crucial part of London’s cultural calendar and organisers believe this year’s will be the biggest and the best to date with the inclusion of the new sixth category, Illustration.

The show attracts a wealth of participating UK universities and art colleges, providing emerging artists with a prominent platform for their work and a nurturing environment for exhibitors to make their next steps. There will be more than 3,000 exhibitions from 50 leading universities taking place across the venue’s diverse space, now expanded over three storeys.

Another new addition for 2016 is the introduction of weekly ‘Best in Show’ awards, chosen by a judging panel of industry experts and Free Range partners, in order to celebrate and reward visionary works from photography and fine art.

Former Free Range exhibitors have gone on to photograph the likes of Damien Hirst (Lily Bertrand-Webb) and the Olympic ceremony (Joe Earley), exhibit at Cardiff’s Creative Exchange (Amelia Seren Roberts) and work for the world’s leading arts magazines (Samuel Bradley).

Exhibitions:

• Illustration Weekend: 10th – 12th June
• Design Week: 16th – 20th June
• Photography Week 1: 23rd – 27th June
• Photography Week 2: 30th June – 4th July

About Free Range Shows:

Free Range Shows will continue its on-going portfolio website as a platform for displaying the work of participating and former exhibitors.

Alongside the exhibitions, Free Range Shows will be hosting a curated program of talks and workshop events with partners British Journal of Photography and Cass Art to add to the experience for exhibitors, industry and visitors alike.

The exhibitions are free and open to the public (except catwalk fashion shows which are by invitation only).

About The Old Truman Brewery:

The Old Truman Brewery, East London's revolutionary arts and media quarter, is home to a hive of creative businesses as well as exclusively independent shops, galleries, markets, bars and restaurants. For over eighteen years the Old Truman Brewery has been sensitively regenerating its ten-acre site of formerly vacant and derelict buildings into spectacular office, retail, leisure and event spaces. The finely tuned mix of business and leisure has created an environment unique in London, making the Old Truman Brewery a destination in its own right.

The Old Truman Brewery has a history of running special projects and supporting artists and designers, providing up and coming talent with the chance to perform on an international level. These special projects, which include Free Range Shows and Fashion East (www.fashioneast.co.uk), have become major creative events of their own.

In addition to Free Range, the Old Truman Brewery is host to Graduate Fashion Week and D&AD New Blood, further establishing the site as the best venue to see UK graduate talent, and growing the graduate season of events at the site.
