Yoga is one of the best ways to restore your body shape, strengthen muscles and regain flexibility after giving birth. The purpose of this class is to regain a harmonious bodily balance and bond with your newborn at the same time.

From six weeks after your baby is born, you will be able to begin postnatal recovery postures to strengthen the abdomen, pelvic and other postural muscles and realign your spine, hips and thighs. This will also aid in tightening the loose skin against the muscle around the stomach region.

Baby yoga is also brilliant for the little ones and they love it as the movements are synchronised with song and nursery rhyme. The gentle exercises incorporated within the Mum & Baby Yoga class have a number of wonderful effects on your child, including strengthening of the leg and back muscles, developing flexibility and balance for sitting and crawling, improved breathing and sleeping patterns, strengthening of the immune system and prevention of colic and constipation.

The aural and physical stimulation contributes to the development of the brain and nervous system and encourages speech development. On top of everything else, Mum & Baby yoga is a great way to meet fellow new mums while your baby learns to interact and play with others.

The course instructor is a qualified British Wheel of Yoga and Yoga Alliance teacher specialising in pregnancy and mother and baby yoga and is fully insured, first aid qualified and DBS checked. Classes are held weekly at New River Studio within the gorgeous Woodberry Wetlands Nature Reserve. Buggies and prams will be stored under cover on our terrace during the class. All yoga props are provided, but you should bring anything you need for the comfort of your baby into the studio.

These classes are very popular and it is advisable to book in advance. Donations received for all classes are invested into the conservation of nature and the protection of its wildlife.
