Held weekly at sunset on the banks of the reservoir at Woodberry Wetlands, this class is designed to achieve ultimate relaxation and harmony with nature within this stunning, serene environment surrounded by wildlife.

Tai Chi is a martial art originating from China, often referred to as ‘Moving Meditation’, derived from the concept of harmonising Ying & Yang and is perhaps the most effective way to develop balanced health for the body and the mind. Consisting of 'Four Pillars', or types of practice, Tai Chi has been practiced throughout history by Chinese emperors and commoners alike, because of its extraordinary versatility and proven effectiveness.

The class is centred around the main exercise, Form, which is a flowing sequence of graceful movements. It is combined with Qi Gong, or’ Standing Meditation’, whereby the student learns to move the body and guide internal energy through simple, relatively static movements. Together this is a very effective way to improve fitness, strength, flexibility, mental focus and energy levels and also to relax, manage stress and achieve general sense of well being. There are many proven health benefits derived from practicing Tai Chi as well, including strengthening of the internal functions of the body, such as the immune system, metabolic functions, and cardiovascular system.

Tai Chi can be practised by persons of any age and classes are suitable for beginners as well as the more experienced and can be practised at your individual pace.

These classes are very popular and it is advisable to book in advance. Donations received for all classes are invested into the conservation of nature and the protection of its wildlife.
