Illustrating the Wild World was created for those with a passion for art, nature and our precious wildlife. Whether you are a complete beginner or an already accomplished painter who wants to improve their skills, this class will enable you to progress at your own speed with individual tuition and demonstrations. Based both inside at the New River Studio and outdoors within the Woodberry Wetlands reserve, you will get the opportunity to closely study the indigenous subjects from our biodiverse habit that you will illustrate throughout the day.

You will explore the techniques of observation, drawing, brush skills and colour theory to produce lifelike drawings of wildlife using graphite pencils and watercolour paints. Choosing a project of your choice, your tutor will teach you about composition, show you how to draw form and features accurately and demonstrate methods such as layering, blending, mixing and applying colour to add detail and texture to your artwork. In addition to developing your illustration and painting abilities, this course will help you brush up on your identification skills and develop your understanding of wildlife conservation issues.
