Sixty years ago Calypso arrived in London direct from the beating heart of the Caribbean. Son Calypsando pick up the trail, updating and expanding, adding their own accents they’ve picked up from their diverse heritage that spans from Cuba to West Africa and adapting them reflect the ever-changing mix of the capital today. They’ve uncovered a treasure trove of Calypso classics from area dons like Lord Invader, Mighty Sparrow, Count Lasher and Andre Toussaint and brought them into sharp 21-st century focus, making a joyful noise to get your body moving, with lyrics to put a smile on your face.
