Yoga itself is not just about connecting mind, body and spirit, but interacting with your immediate environment and practising yoga outdoors amongst the wildlife and picturesque waterside setting at Woodberry Wetlands is an incredible way to bond with the natural world. Swapping artificially lit cramped indoor spaces, for time spent amongst reeds swaying in the reservoir breeze under blue skies filled with birdsong has a tremendous effect on one’s well-being. Keeping the body toned, getting stronger, healthier and more flexible whilst calming the mind are some of the many benefits of yoga. When it is practised in a natural environment, its effectiveness is amplified much further as a deeper sense of relaxation and focus is promoted. Uneven, natural surfaces such as sand, grass, or the woodland floor can intensify a yoga posture and its physical benefits and the slight variance in natural terrain can focus balance more than a flat floor.

Wild Yoga takes place on the Northeast bank of Stoke Newington East Reservoir (Woodberry Wetlands wildlife reserve). However, in the case of bad weather, it will be held indoors at the adjacent New River Studio where views of stunning surrounds may still be seen from under cover.

These outdoor classes are super popular and it is advisable to book in advance. Donations received for all classes are invested into the conservation of nature and the protection of its wildlife.
