World premiere of a new opera by Stephen McNeff
Olivia Fuchs librettist
Based on the play Female Transport by Steve Gooch
Elaine Kidd director
Jessica Cottis conductor
Award winning composer Stephen McNeff and librettist Olivia Fuchs join forces to create a new opera for Trinity Laban students. Based on the true story of the first female prisoners transported to Australia in the early 19th century, Banished tells the story of how a group of people join to overcome their differences and survive adversity.
Featuring elements of documentary reality, flights of theatrical fantasy and references to folk songs of the time, don’t miss the world premiere of this gritty and funny work.
Please note this performance contains strong language and scenes of an adult nature.
