Come to the Fashion and Textile Museum to enjoy a tasting of delicious Italian wines and food alongside a special viewing of the Missoni Art Colour exhibition.

The Missoni family company is based near Gallarate in the region of Lombardy, Italy. The area is famous for its polenta and rice dishes including the decadent risotto alla Milanese and popular risotto alla pilota, a rice and sausage variation. Tortelli de zucca, pasta pockets combining squash, cheese and almond, served in melted butter with fried sage, is a speciality. The region has a growing reputation for sparkling wine, including Franciacorta, made with grapes grown on the slopes around Lake Iseo including Chardonnay, Pinot Nero and Pinot Bianco and Valtellina is the best-known area for red wine production.

Meet experts from the Italian food and wine industry to learn where to shop, what to buy and where to dine out to enjoy the most delicious Italian experience in the capital. Together Antonio Tomassini, Fabio Mollica and his colleagues will take you a journey of discovery to some of the most delicious Italian flavours available in the UK today. Learn from the chefs who regularly work with ingredients imported from Italy to get ideas on how to create an interesting menu and receive personal advice and guidance on which wines should accompany which flavours.

The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer; the event follows from 6.15pm onwards in the Fashion Studio where a selection of wines and foods are available to taste. There will a number of short talks in the Studio during the event focussing on different aspects of Italian cuisine, including:

The changing flavour of Italian dining
How to choose an olive oil
The real Prosecco
