Lift your senses, enlighten your soul & enjoy the lovely sounds of Sorani’s traditional instruments together with the beautiful voice of Golazin.

An evening that promises to move your hearts and elevate your spirits.

The Sornai Ensemble has been established in 2013 by Veria Amiri, who is a Setar and Tar player living in London. It is mainly formed by the music teachers of the "House of Art and Music Sornai" and guest musicians.

This Saturday 14th May they will present an evening of Iranian traditional and folk music.

The first part of the programme will feature solo Setar accompanied by the traditional Iranian percussions Daf and Tonbak, performing improvisations and pieces in the modes of Chahargah and Esfehan, plus the adaptation for Setar of a Tajik waltz.

In the second part the full ensemble will accompany the singer Golazin in a selection of Tasnifs (ballads) belonging to the folk tradition of the northern part of Iran (Gilan), alongside with a few instrumental pieces in Dashti mode.
