This is quite simply a master-class. Stephen Grant is a comic genius, twice winner of MC of the Year and regular MC at The Comedy Store New Years’ Eve show, arguably the biggest club gig in Europe.

The focus of the day is to give the essential information as what is expected of an MC, best practices, pitfalls to avoid and how best to mine the comedy in this all essential role.

The Early Bird cost for the Workshop is £55 and is avilable until midday Tuesday June 21st. After that time the price will jump to £70.

All enquiries can be addressed by emailing [email protected]

Issues of house-keeping, crowd work, dealing with hecklers, having responsibility to the show, introducing acts, working in material and more are covered.

The day will begin with a class from Stephen about the key issues and examples of getting it right and getting it wrong.

After a break, the students will be invited to come up and take around 3 minutes to show how they might open a show as an MC and then receive imemdiate personalised feedback. In which there are lots of laughs to be had.

The students will be the audience for one another and will learn as much gleaning info from comments on one another as much as for themselves. Many friendships seem to be made on days such as these.

Finally, there is a Q&A with Stephen and then with Alfie which will focus more on the open mic scene in London.

Testimonials from former students:

Stephen DiPlacito I attended the workshop on Sunday and was pleased I did. Great feedback to help all levels of experience. It was a relaxed day, open discussion and honest feedback.

Stuart Turner Really good course. Lots of great advice and feedback from Stephen, and all practical and useful stuff. Nice sized group and very well run by Alfie. Would def recommend to anyone who is thinking of MC'ing; wants to improve their MC'ing; or just wants to improve their perfomance skills overall. 5 stars from me!

Sophie Johnson Some things you can only improve on over time, but some things Stephen Grant can just say and you're like, "ohhhhhhh". Do it. It's worth the money. x
