The Transform Trailblazer gives a taster of some of the major themes and creative ideas that future Transform Festivals will explore. Join inspiring artists at the very early stages of new projects, as part of an intimate evening of scratch performances.

Performance with Hope, Grace Surman
In her solo work ‘Things Stack Up’, Grace used the controversial subject of education as the basis for exploring ideas around creativity, capitalism and physicality. She now works with her nine year old daughter Hope, showing and telling her things to build and knock down the fourth wall. This will be the first time they perform together.

The Darkest Corners, RashDash
A cabaret activist rally, which celebrates and draws on the radical feminist history of Leeds. Inspired by our collective responsibility to take on violence towards women around the world, this scratch show features songs and material to continue the legacy of the Reclaim The Night movement.

Dabig, Javaad Alipoor
Inspired by his upbringing and life in Bradford, Javaad begins to explore the complexities of being a young male muslim today. Having conducted interviews with journalists and political dissidents from the middle east, he addresses issues of a global scale. It’s a show about what anger, frustration and radicalism can do to the world.

Part of the Transform Takeover, offering a taste of the adventurous spirit of Leeds’ independent-performance scene, curated by Transform
