Anatolian Cultural Festival is in its 10th Year!

Let the 10th Anatolian Cultural Festival commence!


The Anatolian Community Association will host the 10th Anatolian Cultural Fete in Clissod Park (N16 9HJ), Hackney from the 27th – 30th May 2016 (opening hours). This free admission festival attracts more than 50,000 visitors and consists of popular cultural exhibits, foods, crafts, and performances highlighting the diverse history of the region in Turkey.

The grand opening taking place on Saturday 28th May at 2pm includes an exciting line-up of live shows. Among them will be the Ottoman Marching Band, sword Shield Folk Dance, cooking contests, traditional theatre and Oil Wrestling.

The Anatolian Cultural Fete has something for the whole family with international and local music, traditional costumes, Ottoman Art of Ebru (marble painting), calligraphy and art exhibitions.
As ever, food and drink will be one of the festival's main attractions. Traditional tea, coffee, breads, kebabs, irresistible ice cream, world famous desserts and cuisine will all be prepared by cooks at the festival.

The Festival Organising Committee have confirmed the festival will be held for 4 days, with the Grand Opening on Saturday 28th May at 14:00.

Year after year, the developing Festival, hosts increasing numbers of visitors every year. The festival has welcomed a record 50,000 visitors last year, with even more visitors are expected to attend this year

YET ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL FULL-ON EVENTS PROGRAMME…

Delicious homemade recipes, Lahmajun, Gozleme, Tantuni, Jacket potato, Pide, Kunefe, and many other tastes from the Anatolian cuisine will meet with the taste seekers of the locals. The Bursa Ottoman Marching Band concerts, Oil Wrestling tournaments, Nasreddin Hoja, Keloglan, other different performances, and even some celebrities will be joining the visitors of the festival.

During the first two days, there will be thousands of students visiting the festival from all age groups, from many different schools and have the chance explore the Anatolian Culture as well as tasting the delicious food. Huseyin Goncagul, Hacivat and Karagoz theatre group, Ibish and Nasreddin Hoja drama plays, Jongleur and Puppet shows will be some of the events from the intensive entertainment programme in the 10th year of the Festival.


YOUR CHANCE TO EXPLORE THE HANDCRAFTS IN THE CULTURAL MARQUEE!
Families will be given the chance to enjoy themselves and have their picnic in a child friendly environment with Anatolia’s different tastes being presented to them during this Festival in various stands and marquees. In our 10th year, the traditional Turkish palace handcrafts, the art of Filography, Arts of Calligraphy and bru, Glass decorating classes will also be present this year to entertain its visitors in the Cultural Marquee.

The Festival which will commence on Friday morning, 27th May will be open to its visitors until Monday evening, the 30th of May, from 10am to 8pm, every day.
