On Sunday 29th May, Arabica Bar & Kitchen will be throwing open its doors for the first of a series of informal Sunday music sessions, taking place in the atmospheric restaurant under Borough Market’s historical railway arches.
From 5pm onwards, guests can expect a collection of delicious meze and rum-fuelled concoctions with a Levantine twist, showcasing the exotic flavours of the sun drenched shores of the Eastern Mediterranean.
To kick off the entertainment, Arabica Bar & Kitchen will play host to Cuban jazz trio, ‘The Sugar Kings’, promising chilled out summer vibes and a warm Cuban Spirit with their earthy rhythms and smooth vocal harmonies.
Each week will bring an exciting new musical line-up, along with different Levantine-inspired food, cocktail menus and wine lists.
About The Sugar Kings:
Band leader, Flavio Correa, is a Cuban percussionist and singer based in London. He grew up in Centro Havana surrounded by Cuban musical giants like Chucho Valdez. He specialises in Latin percussion and afro-Cuban drumming, Cuban rumba and afro-Cuban folkloric music.
After coming to the UK Flavio founded his band ‘The Sugar Kings’, named after the famous Havana Baseball team of the pre-revolution days when Havana was brimming with notorious gangsters and Hollywood stars.
The band has performed in such venues as The National Theatre, 606 club and The Royal Albert Hall Jazz series.
