Dominic J Marshall Trio

Led on keys and piano by Dominic J Marshall, this trio line up features his Cinematic Orchestra compadre Sam Vickery on bass and Sam Gardner (drums), as they take their compositional approach to improvising, coupled with a deep respect for the intimacy of the trio setting, and tie together their myriad influences and ideas into a rugged yet cohesive whole. Dominic J Marshall is a prodigious talent. Having won a scholarship to study jazz at Leeds College of Music; been awarded the LCM Piano Prize; accepted on to the Masters course at Conservatorium van Amsterdam in autumn where he received guidance from the likes of Kurt Rosenwinkel, Aaron Parks, Dave Douglas, Gerald Clayton, Brad Mehldau and Ambrose Akinmusire. In 2013 he was selected unanimously by a jury of Jamie Cullum, Gilles Peterson and Jez Nelson to perform at the 'BBC Introduces' showcase at Band on the Wall as part of Manchester Jazz Festival (with the live recording was broadcast on BBC Radio 3).
