Digging for records, films, documenting trips & conversations over the previous year and from different outlets, the collective have accumulated content to be used towards a broader musical discussion.
Following on from the last SAMPLED event early last year, the Crates team have been working for the last 6 months putting together a new project that delves even deeper into the sampling world. Digging for records, films, documenting trips and conversations over the previous year and from different outlets across the world, the collective have accumulated content to be used towards a broader musical discussion.
Within previous months, they have been working on a conceptual live audio visual piece that touches on questions and answers that they have been reflecting on as a collective whilst discussing the term 'World Music'.
With the use of visual arts and music, this sets out to be a refreshing new look at the label 'World Music'. Questioning it, and other social constructs built around local and global identity.
