• Pack a picnic and come together with family and friends for a fun, free day out
• Come and celebrate the Rio Olympic and Paralympic Games with Rio themed activities
• Enjoy world class entertainment on the grand stage from Sadler’s Wells, Company Wayne McGregor and London School of Samba

Get together with your neighbours, friends and family, and join us on Sunday 5th June for a huge picnic in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to kick start a fantastic summer on the Park.

The day will be packed full of fun, free activities for everyone to enjoy. Get into the Rio spirit and take part in a range of Rio themed activities that will bring the Brazilian spirit to Stratford. Practise your carnival arts skills, try out some samba, sashay to Brazilian beats and sample some Brazilian food. There will also be a ‘vintage area’ with swing dance, vintage games and lots of tea and cakes! And as a fitting tribute to the setting of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, there will be mini Olympic athletic events on offer, and fun games to play with friends and families.

Then exercise your brain cells and join a talk or workshop about the canals and rivers on the Park, from our friends at Love the Lea Festival. After all that, sit and back and relax with a great show. World-leading dance house Sadler’s Wells – which will be opening a new space in the Park in 2021 as part of a new culture and education hub – will present Motionhouse’s Captive, an exciting blend of dance, acrobatics and aerial work set inside a large cage. Celebrated Company Wayne McGregor, who have recently taken up on residence on the Park, will be performing an excerpt from their mesmerising piece ‘FAR.’

All you need to do is bring a packed lunch down to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park between 12noon and 5pm and join in the fun!
