Reverie presents a programme of 20th and 21st century music celebrating the genius of Shakespeare through song. The concert will include music by some of the UK's most well known and loved composers, Vaughan Williams and Charles Wood, as well as some more contemporary works by rising stars in the world of choral composition, most notably Owain Park's 'Four Shakespeare Love Songs'. The concert will be interspersed with short pieces of unaccompanied solo song by Jonathan Dove, his Songs of Ariel. The finale of this concert is Vaughan Williams' seminal work, Serenade to Music, a masterpiece of the 20th century.
The concert is preceded by a singing workshop led by The Sixteen's Associate Conductor Eamonn Dougan and Reverie. Two of Charles Wood's Shakespeare settings will be explored, and later performed in concert by Reverie. There is a ticket offer for the combination of the workshop and concert.
