Ali Hamish is an artist trained as an illustrator. In the last three years his work evolved into mural painting and drawing on various surfaces. An early inspiration, which came from his family background, was the American culture and style from the 20th century - from psychedelic rock, surrealism and painters such as Salvador Dali, Francis Bacon and the British illustrator Ralph Steadman. His work represents a collusion of peculiar patterns, sound inspired images, sometimes Mexican culture and susceptible mind states. Many of Hamish's artwork is an exploration of native American narratives, urban myths, universe's mysteries which process gives birth to a mix of aesthetics and bizarrities.

“VIETNOW” takes it’s name from the 1990’s album “Evil Empire” from the rock band Rage Against the Machine. The name is symbolic of an endless political war waged on the people by their governments. For the artist “Vietnow” is a great phrase applicable to many things such as benefit cuts, illegality of mind opening substances and any way in which the people who are supposed to serve us erode our rights and freedoms instead.

This art show is a result of his work in last three years; showcasing installations, as well a variety of recent and new drawings, wooden panels, canvases and silkscreen prints.
