Norwood Junction station ‘Meet the Driver’

LONDON OVERGROUND EMPLOYEES TO INSPIRE FUTURE GENERATION OF LONDONERS

London Overground employees are hosting a series of events around the Overground network to inspire future generations of Londoners to consider a career in rail as part of the nationwide Rail Week (Monday 27 June to Sunday 3 July).

The free events will celebrate the diverse and rewarding career opportunities available at the London Overground and across the railway industry and are open for application by young people around London. They include train depot tours, a ‘meet the driver’ event at Norwood Junction station as well as school visits and work experience.

The team at Norwood Junction station is hosting a ‘Meet the Driver’ event that is open to the public. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the London Transport Museum’s
interactive station display and find out more about life on the railway by the people who work on it.

East London Train Driver Samantha Butler has worked in the railway industry for 11 years starting as a Customer Service representative before training as a Driver and will be at the Norwood Junction station event on Thursday 30 June. Samantha said: “As a driver on the London Overground I know first-hand what a great place the railway industry is to work and my colleagues and I want to share this knowledge and inspire people, particularly young women, living around our network to consider a career in rail.”
