Cecilia Stalin's Rare Groove Night

Swedish by birth, since 2004 Cecilia has been working in Sweden, New York and her adopted city, London as a singer, composer, arranger, recording artist, teacher and vocal coach. Blessed with a wonderful, pure tone and great time Cecilia has built an impressive reputation amongst many of the most influential musicians on the UK jazz scene. For this 606 gig she’ll be bringing a truly talented band of musicians to work alongside her, featuring some of the best players in the UK, including Alex Bennett-keyboard, Richie Garrison-sax, Jackson Mathod-trumpet, Tom Mason-bass and Jamie Murray-drums. Tonight Cecilia is planning a “Rare Groove” set, and for those of you who may not know exactly what that is, the official definition is “Soul or jazz music that is very hard to source….primarily associated with funk, jazz and pop, and subgenres including jazz fusion, Latin jazz, Northern soul and disco”. So, expect quality groove music associated with the likes of Betty Davis, Fela Kuti, Don Blackman, Roy Ayers and Stevie Wonder. Now that sounds very cool! Cecilia has also promised to bring along some special guests to make an already brilliant evening that little bit more exceptional. Highly recommended.
