Some of the world’s best travel pictures will be on show at the University of Greenwich this summer.

The Travel Photographer of the Year exhibition comes to the university’s Stockwell Street building on Friday 22 July and runs until Sunday 4 September.

The competition has entrants from over 100 countries submitting work, offering an insight in to life, culture, and landscape all over the planet.

Professor Neil Spiller, Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor at the university, says: “This is a major coup for the university and we are delighted to be hosting this exhibition of some truly wonderful photography. Stockwell Street is a grand setting for what will be a great show.”

The annual London exhibition is a free event and attracts tens of thousands of visitors every year. The 2017 show will also be held at the university.

Exhibition founder, Chris Coe, adds: “This is a very exciting step for us and we are delighted to be bringing this exhibition to Greenwich, a popular destination steeped in the history of both time and travel.

“The Stockwell Street exhibition space is flooded with natural light so will display the photographs to their best advantage. The new exhibition venue will allow people visiting the hugely popular Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site to immerse themselves in stunning imagery in a spacious, serene environment.”

Trains run from London Bridge to Greenwich every ten minutes and it is a ten minute journey. The nearest Docklands Light Railway stations are Greenwich and Cutty Sark. Bus routes 129, 177, 180, 188, 199, 286 and 386 all stop close to Stockwell Street.

The exhibition is next to Greenwich’s other major tourist attractions, including the Cutty Sark, the Royal Park, the Meridian Line and Observatory, the National Maritime Museum, the Queen’s House and the famous Greenwich Market.

The TPOTY book, Journey Eight, will be on sale at the exhibition, which will be open seven days a week. More here: tpoty.com.
