ACTS ON THE LAUNCH NIGHT

SOLID BIRDS FLYING

Unique art rock equivalent of the paintings of Max Ernst or the films of David Lynch. The surreal lyrics and dark chords tend towards the atmospheric, but many influences may be noted: from the free explorations of Ornette Coleman to the intricate fingerpicked psychedelia of Spirit – with a raw overdriven valve sound and the powerful drums and bass of early ‘Experience’ underpinning the idiosyncratic whole.

VOODOO RAYS

Described by SupaJam.com as “rock that’s not been polished and manipulated, but is instead raw, rough and marvellously tactile“ and this goes some way to describe the dissolute tension and darkness that pervades our sometimes unnerving experimental sound. Voodoo Rays is a noisy experimental threepiece rock band from East London/Brighton Formed in late 2010. Having finished their 5th album “Homecoming”, the band are continuing to gig around London regularly, building up a fearsome reputation by word of mouth alone. If you do see them live, don’t expect constancy; the Rays play hard and fast with their back catalogue, whilst constantly adding new songs to their repertoire. The band are currently recording their 6th album, (working title ‘Berliner’) in Battersea, hopefully with a more stripped back live sound, technology notwithstanding.

MANFLU

One half of garage rock and roll band Sick Richard. Lyric and melody based tunes with dynamic, original guitar playing drawing on various influences including Alternative Rock, Electronica and Blues/Americana.

YOUNG ELDER
Quirky original indie folk
