Fabric art and craft fans - don’t miss The Knitting & Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace, London on 5th-9th October. It’s the perfect place to get great ideas, learn new skills and meet like-minded people.

Visitors can enjoy practical workshops, demonstrations and interactive features covering every aspect of textile craft, from crochet to dressmaking. Established over 25 years ago, there is nothing to rival this unique event. From complete beginners to seasoned stitchers, there’s something for everyone.

The show’s Textile Galleries feature exhibitions by leading contemporary textile artists, groups and graduates, including Alice Kettle and Manchester School of Art, Alice Fox, Anthea Walsh, Hillu Liebelt, Cos Ahmet, Debbie Lyddon, Dionne Swift, Jan Beaney, Jean Littlejohn, Hilary Beattie, Anne Kelly, Sue Stone, Gail Baxter, Carol Quarini, Bethany Walker, Ruth Singer, Alysn Midgelow-Marsden, un.FOLD, the Royal School of Needlework and Embroiderers' Guild, plus a gallery of winning quilts from The Festival of Quilts.

• The Dressmaking Studio, in association with The McCall Pattern Company and SEW TODAY – sewing experts explain dressmaking basics.

New for 2016:
• The Creative Living Theatre - free demonstrations by top knit and stitch experts;
• Talks by textile artists, expert tutors and sewing celebrities;
• Crafters in Action - accomplished textile crafters share their talents with visitors and teach new skills;
• Drop in knitting and crochet sessions - experts from the UK Hand Knitting Association teach basic skills, introduce new projects and offer advice;
• The Vintage Tea Party, in association with Butterick – a celebration of classic designs by Butterick, McCalls and Vogue Patterns as part of The Big Vintage Sew-along, raising funds for women’s cancer charity, The Eve Appeal. Don your favourite vintage homemade dress and enjoy afternoon tea, a glass of Prosecco and a photograph in your creation. Tickets £26 (+£1.50 booking fee) including show entry.
