Still riding the buzz of the monumental success of our fundraiser, we are simply ecstatic to finally get down to what it's all about; hanging up some art and gawking at it. And what an opener! Our very own Kat Hudson has really knocked it out of the park with these latest pieces. We are so very very excited for you all to see them! So come grab a glass of wine or ten, rub elbows with some arty types, and get some culture you philistines!

Living Dead - An unsettling window into our comfortably numb existence by Kat Hudson

In her solo show ‘Living Dead’ London based pop-surrealist Kat Hudson explores our brainwashed culture. Tackling issues of personal and social responsibility through portraits of wayward souls on their journeys through modern existence.

Kat’s American and British backgrounds can both be seen at the core of her work; drawing inspiration from both the London Punk movement of the 1980s and Lowbrow artists of 70s Los Angeles. Her zombified figures scream at the viewer with bright colours and harsh lines. Comfortably numb, they hold an eerily placid gaze, third eye sewn shut in self-mutilation, abandoning insight, spiritually blind. They are both engaged and disengaged- both living and dead.

Taking a critical look at our society’s subconscious, Kat’s work raises powerful questions surrounding the extent to which we pick and choose what is most convenient for us to believe. At such a politically unsettling time in the UK as well as the US, Living Dead reflects the turmoil and existential dread currently rising in our nations and twists those feelings into striking expressions of colourful discomfort.
