London's East End; its always been shaped by the people who call it home but whose often incredible life stories don’t get told. Now its time for these amazing and poignant lives to take centre stage as this fascinating exhibition promises a peek behind the front door to the lives within.
Gateway Housing Association who are celebrating 90 years in the East End bringing homes to lower income households, have created this unique exhibition, East End: The Place We Call Home.
By using extensive archive and first hand accounts Gateway’s exhibition promises a never been seen before look at the people and places that make the East End - home.
As well as telling the remarkable tales of local residents past and present it highlights the unsung heroes who dedicated their lives to the East End such as the feisty Edith Ramsay and the selfless Ayub Ali Master.
The exhibition also promises to showcase those who fought the poverty of the slums to bring better homes and the innovative architects who designed them.
This timely exhibition gives us a chance to reflect on the lives that have and continue to make the East End, the place we call home.
