The Kensington will be celebrating Afternoon Tea Week (which runs from 8th – 14th August) with a Tea Tasting event in association with the Rare Tea Company with two exciting new menus.

Guests of the Tea Tasting Event will be welcomed with a glass of Perrier-Jouët Champagne in The Study before being introduced to the world of the Rare Tea Company and tasting a range of the world’s best teas with Rare Tea Company tea sommelier Max Eisenhammer.

This will be followed by a beautifully constructed Afternoon Tea served in the newly refurbished Drawing Room of The Kensington. The surroundings offer a relaxing, yet stylish and glamorous space to enjoy the great British tradition of afternoon tea, accompanied by an exclusive cocktail made with Half Hitch Gin, Camden Lock’s Malawian Black Tea & Calabrian Bergamot infused gin. Guests will also receive a goodie bag upon departure.

The Rare Tea Company was founded in 2004 by Henrietta Lovell to source and supply the world’s best tea from sustainable and independent farmers from around the world. They collaborate with many of the world’s finest chefs and restaurants, including noma, Momofuku and, now, The Kensington.

The Kensington will also be launching two delicious new menus this Afternoon Tea Week, allowing guests the option to choose either the ‘Classic’ or the ‘Healthy’ Tea. Highlights of the ‘Classic’ Tea include: Summer vegetable tart with broad beans & girolle mushrooms; Crab tartine with pickled cucumber; Smoked salmon & chive crème fraîche on malted brown bread; Amalfi lemon éclair, filled choux with glazed meringue; Bitter chocolate macaron with sea salt caramel; Freshly baked scones with strawberry jam & Devonshire clotted cream. The ‘Healthy’ Tea offers a lighter, gluten-free option, including: Duck & blackberry parfait; Date & almond balls, dipped in chocolate & grated coconut; alongside a selection of gluten-free sandwiches and scones.
