London-based actor William Ludwig and Musical Director Dean Austin have firmly established themselves over the last year as a highly successful international, high-profile cabaret act with sold-out concerts in London, New York and Germany and audiences including Adele Anderson and Dillie Keane. London saw a series of shows of Berlin Cabaret Songs (including the music of Weill) and a show of Tango Songs from across the world - at The Phoenix Artist Club and Crazy Coqs and sung in English, German, French and Spanish. In New York at Don't Tell Mama, William performed in a MAC-nominated show of the songs of Marlene Dietrich and in June, William and Dean premiered a new cabaret of Bar Songs to sold-out audiences at the Ruhrfestival in Germany. In October there will be another premiere of an evening of European cabaret/chanson at London's Pheasantry in response to the political upheaval of the last few months. Born in Germany and having worked with Pina Bausch on a Brecht programme, William's aim is to revive some of the forgotten music of European cabaret and bring it into the 21st century. Songs that are hard-hitting, satirical and current; songs that tell stories of the world around us and question the politics of our time. Their act is very much rooted in the subversion of Weimar Berlin's cabarets. After sold-out performances at Crazy Coqs and Germany's Ruhrfestival, William Ludwig and Dean Austin present their new cabaret 'Foreign Affair' on October 1st 2016 at The Pheasantry. From the cabarets of Weimar Berlin and the songs of Weill and Hollaender to the music of Brel, this is a journey into the heart of 20th century European cabaret and chanson.
