We Could be Heroes, Just for 1 Day is a charity concert on Saturday 17th September 2016 celebrating the music of Marc Bolan and paying homage to the friendship between Marc Bolan and David Bowie. All profits raised will go towards building the first Marc Bolan School of Music and Film in Sierra Leone, West Africa.

Inspired by the friendship between Marc Bolan and David Bowie, the event will take place at the iconic Ealing Club in London, which is remembered as the cradle of British rock music since 1962, hosting bands such as Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton and Led Zeppelin. The club will be rocking again for We Could be Heroes, Just for 1 Day on Saturday 17th September. Doors open at 1.30pm and the event will be hosted by Motown legend Gloria Jones. Headlining the gig will be Tyrannosaurus Jed who will be joined by artists such as James Marshall Black, Jo Mummery and Ironic Harvest who will all pay homage to the music of Marc Bolan and David Bowie.

All proceeds will go towards building the first Marc Bolan School of Music and Film in West Africa. The first 25 people to arrive at the on the day will also be given a free copy of James Marshall Black’s album.

The Marc Bolan School of Music and Film aims to raise upwards of £100,000 in funds so that the Marc Bolan legacy can live on in a country where children are orphaned, underprivileged, vulnerable and disadvantaged. The first Marc Bolan School of Music is due to open in 2016 in Sierra Leone, West Africa to offer the opportunity for young people to come together to develop their skills and talents in the heart of their community.

Taking inspiration from Marc Bolan’s own incredible level of creativity, the school will include an outdoor film school, music rooms, musical instruments, classrooms, a community cinema, a library and an open-air amphitheatre.

Gloria Jones says, “Music has the power to inspire and to reconcile, it touches people through time and over great distances, it brings us together. The Light of Love foundation wishes, as Marc Bolan did, to inspire children, to give them the chance to learn to play music instruments, to write, to compose, to produce records, and to be heard by the world.”
