Is localisation the key to humanity prospering without sacrificing the environment? This is the central premise of a one-day seminar titled ‘The Economics of Happiness – creating a more equitable world’ which will take place in London on 14 September.

The event, hosted by Initiatives of Change’s Trust and Integrity in the Global Economy (TIGE) team in partnership with Local Futures and Global Hub for the Common Good, puts forward a fresh perspective on the benefits of nations shifting toward economic decentralisation and adopting a more localised approach to trade.

Speaking at the one-day TIGEtalk will be Helena Norberg-Hodge, a pioneer of the new economy movement and director of Local Futures. Helena is also the producer of the award-winning documentary ‘The Economics of Happiness’, which describes the social, spiritual and ecological costs of today’s global economy and will be screened during the seminar.
