To celebrate the launch of G-SHOCK's new limited edition 20th anniversary MR-G watch, the world’s toughest watch brand will be hosting an exhibition in Casio's flagship Covent Garden store. The display will be opened by G-SHOCK’s creator Kikuo Ibe, and will showcase the history and Japanese craftsmanship of the MR-G.
Heroing the brand's exclusive premium range, which have been handmade in Yamagata, Japan for 20 years, and are available in very limited quantities, the exhibition will take visitors on a visual tour of some of G-SHOCK's most iconic MR-Gs, from the original MRG-100-1A, launched in November 1996, through to the brand new MRG-G1000HT, which incorporates the work of Bihou Asano, a third-generation master artisan in the field of metalwork.
Visitors to the exhibition will be able to look back in time and witness the evolution of this luxurious pinnacle of Japanese design, and technological might.
On a rare visit to the UK, the legendary Mr Kikuo Ibe - engineer behind the original G-SHOCK watch - will mark the opening of the public exhibition with a ribbon cutting and will take part in a meet and greet with collectors and the public at 3:30pm on Wednesday 7th September.
Adding another dimension to the exhibition, the event will see watch lovers flock to the West End store in the hunt for a rare find, as G-SHOCK will be putting models on sale that have never before been available in the UK.
