Ward Thomas to perform live for fans at hmv Oxford Street!

Twin sister duo WARD THOMAS, are to give an exclusive live performance at hmv Oxford Street then signing copies of their brand new album Cartwheels on 5th September.

The pair who are exciting the industry with their fresh British twist on the American dominated Country music genre, will perform a selection from their new album Cartwheels at hmv Oxford Street on Monday 5th September at 6pm. An album signing session will follow, giving fans the chance to meet one of the most exciting new UK acts of recent years who now look set to crossover onto the International Music scene.

Hampshire born and bred, 22-year-old twins Lizzy and Catherine were barely out of their teens when they became Country crossover stars with their independently released 2014 debut album, From Where We Stand, which sold over 25,000 copies in the UK. The duo also played two UK tours, featuring appearances at London’s 02 Arena and Hyde Park.

Recorded in London, Cartwheels marks the arrival of two major talents, who write as well as they sing, their trademark harmonies earning them new fans wherever they go.

“We have different voices that suit different sorts of songs,” Catherine said. “We call Lizzy the trumpet and me the French Horn.”

Title track ‘Cartwheels’ was the first song they wrote for the new album and inspired what was to come. “It established our new sound”, said Lizzy. “Lyrically it was much more grown up than anything on our debut. Sonically it was a move away from country to lots of other influences we grew up with like Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, KT Tunstall and Taylor Swift’s Red album. We are still influenced by country, we still adore the Dixie Chicks and Kacey Musgraves, but this isn’t just a country album”.

Produced largely by Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, Jason Mraz, Shawn Mendes) with three tracks by Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, Sia), it’s one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year. ‘Cartwheels’ features 14 self-penned songs that capture a range of emotions veering from the joyous to the heartbroken and everywhere in between. Miss it at your peril.
