Open House at Broadgate

Open House London (17th - 18th September 2016) is the capital’s largest annual festival of architecture and design; intended to open up an array of London’s most splendid buildings to the general public who don’t otherwise have access. This year, Broadgate - located in the heart of the Square Mile, and home to an eclectic mix of some of London’s most prestigious buildings - will be offering Londoners ‘behind-the-scenes’ access to a number of its impressive buildings as part of Open House London, including an Art Tour and exclusive access to the rooftop of 201 Bishopsgate.

For those seeking a spot of weekend culture in the City, Broadgate houses an impressive art collection by a number of acclaimed British and international artists. Whilst stunning sculptures in bronze, ceramic, steel and stone are accessible to view by all in the open air, paintings and other masterpieces in Broadgate’s buildings are usually out of sight to the public eye...until now. Broadgate’s Art Curator will be hosting tours throughout the day, of artistic highlights housed in the Broadgate building; revealing lesser known facts and expert knowledge about these exquisite works and the artists behind them.

For the eagle-eyed, Broadgate will also be offering the public the chance to take a rooftop tour of 201 Bishopsgate - a striking 12-storey building that was recently shortlisted for a City In Bloom award - and enjoy the breath-taking views of the London skyline first-hand. As access to the green rooftop is normally restricted, the Bishopsgate rooftop tour will show off a side of London that is not experienced by many - so prepare to be blown away!

Art Tours will take place at 10am, 12pm, 2pm and 4pm on 17th and 18th September, will last 75-90 minutes, and will leave from The Welcome Centre (EC2M 2PA). 201 Bishopsgate rooftop will be open to the public between 10am-4pm on 17th and 18th September
