Featuring a frontline of two violins, this unique band perform music with jazz sensibility from across an unparalleled spectrum of World music, including music with Spanish, French, Bulgarian, Macedonian, and Latin American influences. Stuart Hall not only plays violin but also double bass, guitar and what he likes to describe as a selection of “gratuitously obscure string instruments”. Fellow violinist Sonia Slany has worked with a huge variety of high profile musicians, from Michael Nyman to Massive Attack and Paul Clarvis (Mick Jagger, Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder, Sir Harrison Birtwistle, Sir John Dankworth, Sir Paul McCartney, Elton John...) is one of the busiest drummer/percussionists on the studio scene, being one of the few jazz musicians who also works regularly in the classical world. Joining the band tonight as their Special Guest will be master percussionist Dawson Miller. Dawson has been a stalwart of the World Music scene for more than 30 years and is probably best known at the Club as the percussionist with the Brazilian band "Samara" (Fri 30th). The addition of percussion to this already formidable line up promises to make this an intriguing and very special night indeed.
