Soviet Psychedelic Animations

We are excited to bring you animations from 1970s Soviet Estonia. This is also a closing event for Soviet Hippies exhibition. The exhibition is open every day 12-6pm, late opening on Wednesday the 14th 5-10pm.

Curators note on the animations:

In the late 1960s psychedelia was one the most powerful concepts in the West. Artistic approaches related to psychedelia were heavily suppressed in the Soviet Union but nevertheless in Soviet Estonia they found expression in “safe” mediums, such as illustrations for children’s books and animated films.
