The Conran Shop Marylebone is partnering with the Royal Academy of Arts and its landmark autumn exhibition, Abstract Expressionism. Jack Killick, an art graduate from the Royal Academy Schools, will create a mural inspired by the works from the exhibition, which will sit as a backdrop to the main window’s room sets.
Forever associated with the energy, invention and experimentation of 1950s New York, Abstract Expressionism redefined the nature of painting and was America’s greatest art movement. Often monumental in size, these works are at times intense, spontaneous and deeply expressive. At others they are more contemplative, presenting large fields of colour that border on the sublime. The Conran Shop takes inspiration from these radical works, with their powerful impact, scale and vitality by featuring many abstract and colourful designs across all departments, especially in its own brand textiles collection.
