Professor of Cultural Studies at London College of Fashion Reina Lewis will be joined by a panel of experts to discuss the heightened political significance of the religiously dressed body in post-Brexit Britain and beyond.
The panel will evaluate the opportunities and challenges for those concerned with the cultural politics of dress as the UK changes its role on the global stage after Brexit. The event, which is taking place as part of Lewis’ Faith and Fashion Series, will focus the extensive global conversation on the interaction between appearance, religion, and political identity onto the UK.
Lewis will be joined by visual artist and Jewish educator Jacqueline Nicholls; Legal director of Liberty James Welch; Founder and editor of MAGNIFY magazine Ruth Yimika Awogbabe; and award-winning author Elif Shafak.
