Abstract Expressionism was a broad movement in American painting that began in the late 1940s drawing on the influences of artists such as Arshile Gorky and Hans Hoffman.
The movement evolved to became a dominant force in Western painting during the 1950s. Prominent associated painters included Jackson Pollock, Willem de Kooning, Franz Kline, and Mark Rothko, but many others such as Clyfford Still, Philip Guston, Helen Frankenthaler, Barnett Newman, Robert Motherwell, Lee Krasner, Elaine de Kooning, and Joan Mitchell, were influential.
This exhibition presents modern silk-screens, original lithographs and posters illustrating the depth and intensity this movement has to offer.
