Precious | Celebrating Black History Month with Stanley's Film Club

To celebrate Black History Month, Stanley’s Film Club presents Precious (2009; USA). Claireece 'Precious' Jones is an illiterate and obese 16-year-old girl, abused by her mother and pregnant by her absent father. When she is offered the opportunity to transfer to an alternative school, she sees a chance to turn her life around and begins the journey from oppression to self-determination.
