The opening concert of Finchley Symphony Orchestra's season offers a feast of familiar and less well-known Slavic and Nordic music.
Nielsen’s Helios overture captures the passage of the sun from dawn to dusk across the Aegean Sea. Dvorak’s concerto is rightly one of the most popular of all, packed with memorable melodies. Hannah Sloane, our soloist, is a graduate of the Juilliard School in New York and performs regularly in both the US and the UK. Sibelius’ first symphony is dramatic and stunningly original from the very first note.
